Deposit Invoices
An invoice for 10% of the tour cost will be issued and is due for payment upon receipt. A booking will become a confirmed booking only when we receive payment of the deposit invoice. Invoices should be paid in full to our UK office, either by sterling cheque, banker’s draft or telegraphic transfer in sterling and net of all charges.
RAF Airbridge or Latam Airlines Delays
For which Stanley Services Limited cannot be held responsible under any circumstances, might result in extra expenses for the client, e.g. accommodation, food, excursions etc. All extra charges will be charged to the client. It is strongly recommended that clients take out holiday insurance to safeguard against such delays.
Stanley Services’ Cancellation Fees
You may cancel your booking at any stage, provided you do so in writing. Due to administration costs being incurred by ourselves on handling any booking, we will retain the 10% deposit invoice upon cancellation to cover such charges. In addition the following charges (less the 10% already paid) will apply should the cancellation be within the following time frame:
70 – 43 days before departure 50% of total tour cost
42 – 29 days before departure 75% of total tour cost
28 days or less before departure 100% of total tour cost
Money
We would recommend that all clients bring with them to the Islands a certain amount of Sterling (British pounds) in order to cover any expenses not covered by the cost of the itinerary. Such costs will include excess baggage payments on the internal flights, stores that may need to be purchased at self-catering facilities, bar bills at some outlying lodges etc. The Falklands pound equals one pound sterling and notes and coins are similar to UK. Exchange facilities are available at Standard Chartered Bank, Stanley. Travelers’s cheques are accepted there and at most commercial outlets. Visa and MasterCard are accepted at many outlets (except for a few in “Camp”). There are one cash machine in the Islands, located within the shop at Stanley Services Fuel Station. The bank will provide cash against credit cards with proof of identification. Falkland Islands currency cannot be exchanged for Sterling or other currencies outside the Islands.
Itinerary Changes
Whilst every possible effort will be made to adhere to the programme, the itinerary may have to be altered at short notice for reasons beyond our control. Flexibility is vital in the Falklands as changes in flight timings due to weather conditions and other problems may occur. We reserve the right to re-arrange itineraries or replace certain activities if unforeseen conditions demand such action.
FIGAS (Falkland Islands Government Air Service)
Flight schedules for our internal air service are arranged on a daily basis, according to demand. The time of departure and routing are announced in the evening prior to departure. Departure times can vary from 0800 to early afternoon; the length of flight depends on the routing. For safety reasons, luggage allowances are limited to 14 kilos per passenger. Excess baggage may be carried at a charge of £1.40 per kilo, initial charge only. Advance notice of excess baggage is required.
